Marshmallows, marmalades and jellies, tinctures and liqueurs are made from it. It is very common in the East, the countries of the Caucasus. Barberry is added to many oriental dishes to give them a subtle, refined sourness. They are seasoned with hot dishes with meat, and also combined with sweet desserts - chocolate, pastries and ice cream. Barberry is called a candy plant, associated with the well-known caramel, very similar in taste to a fresh ruby berry.
